NovelDesk terms of service
Effective date: October 16, 2026 · Operator: Pentarab (representative 송락규, business registration no. 898-19-00957, mail-order business report no. 2024-서울강남-02782, 4F, Building 1, Dongwoo Building, 328 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea, support@noveldesk.app)
These terms are the agreement between you and Pentarab ("we") for NovelDesk at noveldesk.app and read.noveldesk.app ("NovelDesk"). By creating an account or using Plus you agree to them. Writing in NovelDesk without an account needs no agreement beyond these terms being available to you.
1. The service
NovelDesk is a writing app that runs in your browser. Without an account you can write, keep notes, see statistics, make backup files and export, within the free limits (two manuscripts of up to 30 chapters each; the bundled sample does not count). On the free desk your writing is stored only on your device, by your browser; we have no copy and do not guarantee how long it lasts (section 9). An account adds Plus, which includes unlimited manuscripts and chapters, saving to the cloud (everything is saved to our servers, and it turns on by itself when you subscribe), full version history, more export formats, publishing, and 20 drawing credits a month.
2. Accounts
Sign in with Google, Apple or a 6-digit code sent to your email. You must be at least 14 years old, and old enough in your country to agree to an online service. Keep your email and sign-in methods secure; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@noveldesk.app if you think someone else has access.
3. Plus subscription
- Price and billing. Plus costs $8 a month or $60 a year. Tax, where it applies, is calculated by Polar and shown at checkout. Checkout and payment are handled by Polar, which is the merchant of record: it sells Plus to you, charges you, collects tax and sends receipts. Polar's terms and privacy policy apply to the purchase.
- Auto-renewal. The subscription renews every month or year until you cancel. You are charged at each renewal with the card you gave Polar.
- Cancel any time. Account, then "Manage billing" opens Polar's customer portal, where you cancel, change card, see invoices or switch plan. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Plus continues until the end of the period you paid for.
- Price changes. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change that affects you, and it applies from the next renewal. You can cancel before then.
- Refunds. See the refund policy.
- Nothing you wrote is locked. When Plus ends, everything you wrote stays open and editable in your browser, you can export and back up, and you can still read, download and delete what you saved to the cloud (it stays on our servers, no longer updated, until you delete it or your account) and remove published pages. New writing is then kept in your browser only, so the free desk's 7-day promise applies again. Plus-only actions stop: new manuscripts or chapters over the free limits, new uploads to the cloud, new illustrations, new publishing and updates, reader statistics, and the longer history and extra export formats. Pages you already published stay online until you remove them.
4. Drawing credits
Plus gives 20 drawing credits each calendar month (counted in UTC). Each chapter illustration, each picture of a character or place, and each redraw uses one. Unused credits expire at the end of the month and do not carry over. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and cannot be bought separately: there are no top-ups. A credit is returned if a drawing fails. To keep the service available we may limit drawings per person per day (currently 20) and overall; a request refused for that reason uses no credit.
5. Your writing and what we may do with it
You keep all rights to what you write, import, draw or publish. You give us only the permission needed to run NovelDesk for you: to store, copy and transmit your content to host what you save to the cloud and published pages, to show published pages to readers, to keep technical backups, and, when you ask for an illustration, to send the chapter text to the providers named in the privacy policy. We do not use your writing to train AI models and we do not claim ownership. The permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that already left our control, such as readers' browser caches, and short-lived backups.
6. Publishing
Plus lets you publish chosen chapters as public pages at read.noveldesk.app. You are responsible for what you publish. Before publishing you promise that you wrote it or have the right to publish it, and that it does not:
- infringe someone's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- include sexual content involving minors, or content that sexualises minors;
- threaten, harass, defame or expose private information about a person;
- incite violence or hatred against people for who they are;
- break the law where you live or where we operate, or contain malware, scams or spam;
- misuse other people's names or identity.
Mature fiction is welcome when it is lawful and does not fall under the list. We may unpublish, take down or refuse any page that we reasonably believe breaks these rules or the law. You can remove your pages at any time, with or without Plus. When Plus ends, your pages are taken down, unless you chose, in your account, to keep them online; pages you keep stay online until you remove them or delete your account.
Reports and takedown
Every published page has a report link. To report a page, use that link or write to support@noveldesk.app with the page address.
- Copyright notices. Send: the work you say is infringed; the address (URL) of the page; your name, address and email; a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law; a statement that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act, under penalty of perjury. Send copyright notices to support@noveldesk.app.
- What we do. We act promptly: we may take the page down or block access, and we tell the publisher.
- Counter-notice. If you published the page and think it was removed by mistake, write to us with the page address, a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake, your name, address and email, and your agreement to the jurisdiction of the courts named in section 12 (Governing law and disputes). We may restore the page after the period the law allows unless the complainant has started a court action.
- Korean temporary measures (임시조치). If someone asks us to delete information that infringes their privacy, reputation or other rights (Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization, Article 44-2), we promptly delete it or temporarily block access for up to 30 days, tell the requester and the publisher, and make the measure known to users. The publisher may submit a statement (소명) to restore the page. We may also act under the Korean Copyright Act on a rights holder's request to stop copying or transmission.
- Repeat infringers. We may end the accounts of people who repeatedly publish infringing material.
7. Acceptable use
Do not break the service or try to get around limits or security; do not send excessive or automated requests; do not resell or share your Plus access; do not use NovelDesk for unlawful content or to harm others; do not use drawings to create sexual content, depictions of real people, or hateful material. We may refuse a request that breaks these rules.
8. AI illustrations
An illustration is generated by AI models from your chapter on your request, and it changes nothing in your text. Results can be imperfect, can differ from your description, and can look like other pictures. Models may refuse some requests; a refused request is not charged. You are responsible for checking an illustration and for what you publish with it. We do not claim ownership of illustrations made for you, but whether AI pictures are protected by copyright depends on your country, and we do not promise any rights beyond what the law gives you. Privacy details for illustrations are in the privacy policy.
9. Availability and your backups
NovelDesk is offered "as is" and may be unavailable at times. On the free desk your writing lives only in your browser, on your device. We have no copy and NovelDesk never deletes it, but browsers can lose it: clearing site data, private windows, storage clean-up, a lost device. Safari can clear a site's data after 7 days without a visit. We do not guarantee how long writing stored in your browser lasts. Keep backup files, somewhere other than your browser. With Plus, everything is saved to our servers in the cloud while you are subscribed. The cloud is not a guarantee; it can fail or be unavailable, and it is not a replacement for your own backups. Free writers' limits apply in the browser.
10. Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time: cancel Plus, then delete your account (privacy policy, section 10). We may suspend or end your account or remove content if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the law, if a payment is reversed or charged back, or to protect the service or others; we will tell you why unless the law prevents it. We may end the service with at least 30 days' notice; during that time you can export everything, and we will refund any prepaid period you will not get. On ending, published pages and cloud data are deleted as in the privacy policy. Deleting your account ends Plus immediately; the unused rest of a paid period is not refunded unless the refund policy applies.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit or lost data that you could have prevented by keeping backups. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Plus in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, for example for intent or gross negligence, or your statutory consumer rights where you live.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Courts: the court with jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act of the Republic of Korea, without taking away any mandatory consumer protection or court rights you have where you live.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. For changes that matter we will tell you by email or in the app at least 7 days before they apply (30 days if the change is to your disadvantage). If you do not agree, cancel Plus and stop using the service before the date; using it afterwards means you accept. If the English and Korean versions differ, the Korean version controls.
